OREGON TRAIL DAYS
In western Nebraska, beginning Thursday night of the 2nd or 3rd weekend in July, (2010 festival to be held from July 15 through 18), in Gering, Nebraska, the "twin city" of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Oregon Trails Days is a collection of an arts and crafts show, parade, street dance, car show, barbeque, bicycle hill climb, carnival, morning pancake feed, food fair, nationally-known musical entertainment, and the Saturday Nebraska State Championship CASI Chili Cook-Off.
It's a fun and varied small town western event that takes place on top of land that was traveled by western emigrants on the Oregon Trail in sight of Scottsbluff National Monument where hundreds of thousands passed through Mitchell Pass on their way west in the mid 1800's.
